Overland Power Fencing was established in 1993 just before the transformation of government in South Africa and commenced operations in 1994. The two owners Barney and Martin van der Merwe (brothers) of the company with prior fencing experience decided to establish a company that would provide effective and superior electric fencing solutions using Gallagher Power Fencing Systems in rural, urban, agricultural and wildlife markets.
Our vision and insight at the time was to provide farming communities with a perimeter security fencing system that really works. Our market research showed that there was a need for an effective electric security fencing system using high quality electric fencing products rather than conventional security diamond mesh / razor wire fencing due to the use of an active intrusion deflection (shock) and detection (alarm) system that reacts to any intrusion attempts, preventing or delaying intruder access and that is not reliant on human surveillance.
This later expanded into other existing and emerging markets like game and electrified game fencing (big five) for private and national reserves, problem animal control systems, urban and industrial security fencing, sub divisional grazing systems and equestrian fencing systems.
Our company is based in Polokwane (Pietersburg) in the Limpopo Province and we operate country wide although our main focus is in Limpopo, Mpumalanga and North West. We also service cross border clients like Botswana, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi and Mozambique.
